The Journey of Publishing On The Watch - Part 1 of Pastor Watchman Ngiam's Biography

Publishing a book is often a deeply personal and transformative journey, both for the author and the team that brings the book to life. On The Watch, the first part of a three-volume biography of Pastor Watchman Ngiam, is no exception. This book chronicles the spiritual journey of Pastor Ngiam, detailing how he became a Christian and the experiences that shaped his faith.

The book was written by Pastor Ngiam himself, with the editorial support of a dedicated team consisting of Leona, Cherie, and Lina. Each member of the team played a crucial role in refining the narrative, ensuring that the pastor's story was conveyed with clarity, authenticity, and inspiration.

As the designer tasked with bringing this story to the printed page, my role was to design the book's cover and lay out its content, integrating elements such as headers, footers, and footnotes where necessary. The design process was meticulous and collaborative, involving no less than ten meetings to finalize both the cover design and the interior layout. These sessions were a blend of creativity and careful consideration, as we sought to create a visual representation that would resonate with the book's spiritual and personal themes.

Our collaboration reached its culmination on August 13, 2024, when the final design was completed. The sense of achievement was palpable, as each of us knew we had contributed to something meaningful—a book that would not only tell the story of Pastor Ngiam's faith journey but also potentially inspire others on their own paths.

On The Watch is set to be published on September 14, 2024, marking the beginning of what we hope will be a widely appreciated and impactful series. The book stands as a testament to the power of collaboration, the importance of faith, and the art of storytelling.
